EFAS Express For those schools who wish to utilize their computer workstations and the Internet, DJA offers the capability of providing its clients with computerized transmission of both Pell Grant and Direct Loan documents. Utilizing Express with EFAS (Electronic Financial Aid Servicing from DJA) provides the school with faster access to ISIRs and Direct Loan approvals. With Express, schools can typically reduce the turn around time for ISIRs and Direct Loan approvals by 2 to 6 days! DJA clients have the option of using their own ISIR generating software (e.g. Banner, Class, Campus 2000, PowerFAids, etc.). If a school does not have ISIR generating software, DJA recommends EDExpress, which is free to all Title IV institutions. Should EDExpress be selected, DJA will also provide installation and ongoing technical assistance at no additional cost via DJA's Toll-Free Support line. In addition, DJA pays for all transmission costs for whatever software is selected via our Internet-based FTP server. With EFAS Express, not only does the institution benefit by the increased turn around time, but also from having the peace of mind knowing that a professional financial aid consultant is reviewing their financial aid information for accuracy. For example, prior to sending back the ISIR, DJA checks for the following:
• Immigration matching • Default status • Repayment status • Verification status Hardware and Software RequirementsThe hardware and software requirements for EFAS Express will vary depending on what ISIR generating software package is utilized. If an institution elects to utilize the free EDExpress software from the Department of Education, the current hardware and software requirements can be found by clicking HERE. Should client wish to purchase hardware and software now for use in the 2005-2006 and beyond award years, please review the recent Dear Colleague Letter, GEN-04-08 for the latest hardware/software requirements.Besides the ISIR generating software, the only other required software is the Internet-based client FTP Software. For ease and standardization of support, DJA requires the use of IPSwitch, WS_FTPLE which is free to educational institutions. This software can be downloaded at the DJA Client Access site under the Software folder. DJA also offers its EFAS Express users an optional electronic input form feature. The electronic DJA input form is a Microsoft Word template document that allows a school to enter the information on-line that DJA needs to calculate and prepare the student award letter. DJA clients can still mail or fax a paper input form (found in our manual) to us, but may want to consider this new option as it eliminates the cost of either a fax or mail since it is sent to DJA over the internet via our secure FTP server-just as you would Pell applications created via EDExpress or other ISIR generating software. In addition, clients who are currently using this find it is much quicker since the form is online and navigation through the form is simplified by using a keyboard and/or mouse. If you are interested in utilizing this option, there is no additional cost outside of Microsoft Word (version 7.0 or greater). If you choose this option, please notify our office prior to setup so we can include the MS Word template file with your EFAS Express package. In addition, should your ISIR generating software and/or school administrative software already contain the information DJA requires on the input form, DJA will accept this information electronically rather than using the DJA input form.
